Man Found Dead Behind West Village Building Identified

Police identified the man as 25-year-old Jackson Coe who worked in marketing for GrubHub.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A man found dead in the backyard of a West Village building Thursday has been named as 25-year-old Jackson Coe who worked in marketing, authorities said.

Police responded to a 911 call of a man not breathing in the backyard of 160 Waverly Place near Grove Street at 7:49 a.m. and discovered Coe unconscious with injuries that suggested he'd fallen.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said it is unclear why Coe, who lived at Sullivan Place in Crown Heights, was at the West Village building.

Coe worked in marketing and for the last nine months was employed as a growth marketing associate at GrubHub, a representative for the online food ordering company confirmed.

"We are deeply saddened by this news, and our thoughts are with Jackson’s family and friends during this difficult time," a Grubhub spokeswoman told Patch. "Jackson was a key member of our Grubhub family, and he will be incredibly missed."
