Man Stabs Himself Outside West Village Restaurant: Police

A man stabbed himself in the neck on Monday morning outside the Waverly Inn and Restaurant, police said.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A man stabbed himself Monday morning outside the posh Waverly Inn and Restaurant in the West Village, police said.

The man stabbed himself in the neck on the stoop outside the restaurant, located at 16 Bank St., an NYPD spokeswoman confirmed to Patch. The man was transported to the hospital in critical condition to be treated for his wounds.

The man, who police said was in his 40s, injured himself at about 8:15 a.m., on Monday, police said. The exclusive restaurant was not open at the time.

The New York Post identified the man as a model, and reported that he injured himself after an argument with his girlfriend.

"I walk past this place every day and I’ve never seen anything like this," Reyes told the Post. "This is a quiet neighborhood."
