LOWER MANHATTAN, NY — Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were in New York City this week for a Nelson Mandela Day celebration and the world-famous couple chose to eat dinner one night at a Lower Manhattan restaurant.

The pair went to dinner Monday night at the Italian eatery Locanda Verde at 377 Greenwich St., according to multiple reports, including the New York Post.

Locanda Verde is owned by actor Robert DeNiro and serves up dishes such as sheep's milk ricotta, duck arrosto, steak tartare, ravioli, pappardelle, and more.

Markle initially asked for her and her party of five to dine in the entire outdoor courtyard, which seats 50, but the owners said that they wouldn't bump the party that had reserved the space, and the former royal family members would have to sit inside, reported the New York Post.

Markle and Harry ended up eating among everybody else and even wished happy birthday to a nearby table, the New York Post added.
