Mermaid Inn Opens Oyster Bar In Greenwich Village: What To Know
The team behind Mermaid Inn, the successful upscale-casual seafood spot, just opened an oyster bar in Greenwich Village.
GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Mermaid Inn, a popular seafood joint with multiple locations in New York City, just opened an oyster bar in Greenwich Village.
“We are incredibly excited to announce that the Mermaid Oyster Bar is now open! Come enjoy our laid-back vibe on the corner of Bleecker and MacDougal in Greenwich Village," reads a message that now appears on the seafood restaurant's website.
The exact location of the new oyster bar is 89 MacDougal Street, which is the former home of P.J. Clarke's.

According to Eater NY, there's room for 50 patrons inside and 70 diners outside.
The new Greenwich Village eatery has a raw bar that offers clams, ceviche, tuna crudo, mussels, jumbo shrimp, and larger platter options. There are also six appetizer and entree options on the menu respectively, as well as an extensive wine and cocktail list.

The oyster bar will have a happy hour every day from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The location will be open Monday to Saturday from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. You can find out more about the new oyster bar in Greenwich Village on Mermaid Inn's website.
Mermaid Inn also has locations on the Upper West Side and in Chelsea.
The new opening will be a welcomed sight for Greenwich Village and West Village residents after Mermaid Inn announced it was closing its East Village location in Sept. 2020 after 17 years in the neighborhood at 96 2nd Avenue.
