Nutella Cafe To Open Near Union Square
The chocolatey hazelnut spread will dominate the menu at a new cafe set to open by the end of the year.

UNION SQUARE, NY — It goes with toast, fruit and now your coffee. Nutella, the cocoa-hazelnut spread that turns breakfast into dessert, will be the centerpiece of a new cafe near Union Square.
Ferrero, the Italian manufacturer of the sweet treat, said it plans to open its second U.S. Nutella Cafe at 13th Street and University Place by the end of the year. The first location opened in Chicago last year.
"As a multicultural epi-center, New York gives us the opportunity to explore and offer new ways for our local fans to enjoy Nutella, while reaching millions of tourists visiting the city," Rick Fossali, the vice president of operations for Nutella Cafe, said in a news release Thursday.

The forthcoming eatery will feature a "Nutella-inspired cafe menu" alongside espresso beverages, the company said.
The Chicago cafe has gotten an "overwhelmingly positive reaction," Fossali said. It offers Nutella-filled crepes and croissants, baguettes slathered in the sugary spread, and savory Nutella-free options such as a ham croissant panini.

Ferrero first brought Nutella to the U.S. in 1983. It's since become the top-selling branded hazelnut spread in the U.S., the company says.
