NY 66th State Assembly Results: Deborah Glick Wins
Deborah Glick ran essentially unopposed with Cynthia Nixon on the Working Families Party as a technicality.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Assemblywoman Deborah Glick will return to Albany to represent the 66th State Assembly district.
Glick has served the Lower Manhattan district since 1990, when she became the state's first openly gay legislator, and though Cynthia Nixon was on the ballot under the Working Families Party she was only listed due to a technicality and was not actively campaigning against Glick.
In fact, Nixon endorsed Glick in the race.

With 100 percent of the district's precincts reporting in, Glick beat Nixon with 82.4 percent of the vote compared to Nixon's 17.6 percent, according to city Board of Elections data.
After Nixon lost the Democratic primary to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the Working Families Party moved Nixon down the ballot to give the gubernatorial nod to the second-term governor and avoid siphoning votes in his race against Republican Marc Molinaro.

New York's arcane election laws necessitate some complex maneuvering.
A candidate placed on a ballot can only get off it by running for another office, moving out of state or dying. To placate election law, the Working Families Party nominated Nixon for the 66th Assembly District.
