Person Injured In Fire At 18-Story West Village Building: FDNY

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A fire in the basement of a West Village apartment building left one person injured Wednesday morning, officials said.

At about 11:30 a.m., a blaze started in the basement of 3 Sheridan Sq., an 18-story apartment building between Grove and Barrow streets, according to the FDNY.

Nearly 80 firefighters responded to battle the flames, bringing them under control about 30 minutes later, officials said.

One person was injured, a FDNY spokesperson said, but they refused medical attention.

Fire marshals are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
