Rapper Casanova Turns Self In After Alleged Diner Assault: NYPD
Rapper Casanova was arrested on a robbery charge Wednesday after he allegedly attacked a woman at a West Village diner, police said.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Rapper Casanova turned himself into police Wednesday for allegedly attacking a woman at a West Village diner because he thought she was filming him, police said.
Authorities arrested the "Down Bitch" rapper, whose given name is Caswell Senior, Wednesday and charged him with robbery after he met with police regarding the alleged Aug. 6 attack.
Niya Rucker told authorities the rapper approached her while she was taking video of her food at 4:40 a.m. in the Good Stuff Diner on West 14th Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues, officials said.

The rapper mistakenly thought Rucker was filming him and his crew and allegedly grabbed the 22-year-old woman's phone while his pal placed her in a chokehold until she lost consciousness, police said.
Authorities said Casanova's entourage — the man and another woman — allegedly beat Rucker in the face, leaving her with a split lip, a cut chin and bleeding from the mouth before fleeing the diner.

Casanova's lawyer Scott Leemon says the allegations against Caswell are unfounded.
“Casanova adamantly denies the allegation that he assaulted anyone,” the attorney said in a statement. “Any contention he did so is totally false. We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into these false allegations.”
The police investigation is ongoing.
