SEE IT: West Village Mugger Attacks Woman With Pliers

The brute grabbed the woman by the neck and threatened to stab her with the pliers unless she coughed up cash, police said.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A mugger armed with pliers grappled with a woman outside her West Village apartment building before running off with $200 from her purse, police said Wednesday.

The brute stalked the 26-year-old woman as she walked down a short flight of stairs to the entrance of her home at Minetta and Bleecker streets at about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 26. He crept up behind her and pushed her against a fence, grabbed her by the neck and threatened to stab her with the pliers, police said.

The pair struggled as the woman fought to break free, but the man only let her go when she agreed to give him $200 from her wallet. He grabbed the cash and fled west on Minetta Street.
