Shocking Video Shows Violent Robbery In Greenwich Village

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A man robbed a woman in the lobby of her Greenwich Village apartment on Saturday night, grabbing her from behind and shaking her until she handed over her purse, shocking video footage from the incident shows.

Police are still searching for the man who ran off after the robbery.

Police say the man followed the victim, a 32-year-old woman, into her apartment building near Grove and Bedford streets at about 11 p.m. on Saturday. Surveillance footage from the lobby of the building shows the man approaching the woman from behind, grabbing her about the neck and shoulders and shaking her while talking to her.

The man eventually takes the woman's bag before leaving the building, just as two other people were walking into the lobby, the footage shows.

Police say the woman's purse was found nearby with all of its contents still inside. The woman was not injured during the robbery, police said.
