WEST VILLAGE, NY — A Hanukkah-themed pop-up bar is opening soon in Greenwich Village for the holiday season.

Maccabee Bar will open at 64 Downing St., near West Houston Street, on December 13 and stay open through December 31.

The bar was started in Boston in 2018 by bartender Naomi Levy when she noticed how many Christmas themed-pop up businesses there would be during the holidays, but not the same amount for Hanukkah.

“I love Christmas and all of the Christmas bars that pop up this time of year,” says Levy in a message on the bar's website. “But I always felt like a tourist. There was never really anything for someone like me that wasn’t raised with Christmas.”

The resulting creation is described as a Hanukkah wonderland, with special decor, themed cocktails, and traditional Jewish cuisine.

The menu includes drink names such as "Eight Crazy Nights," the "Everything Bagel Martini," and the "Latke Sour."

The food options include hummus plates, latkes, lox, pizza, and more.

The Maccabee Bar pop up will take over the space usually home to the cocktail bar Ollie West Village.
