A man accused of groping a woman on a subway platform and then shoving her onto the tracks has been charged with attempted murder.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A man accused of groping a woman on a subway platform and then shoving her onto the tracks has been charged with attempted murder, police said.
Kimani Stephenson, 24, was arrested about two days after being accused of groping a 22-year-old woman early on Friday morning before pushing her onto the tracks. Prosecutors said he approached the woman at 4:15 a.m. as she waited on the F/M train platform at the 14th Street and 6th Avenue station and started "grabbing her left breast and her vaginal area."
After the woman told Stephenson to stop, he pushed her onto the train tracks, police said. Stephenson fled while the woman was helped up from the tracks by another person on the platform, police said.

Prosecutors said Stephenson was seen twice in surveillance footage: Once following the woman toward the platform and a second time walking away from the platform several minutes later. Stephenson identified himself as the man seen in the surveillance footage, according to the criminal complaint.
He is next scheduled to appear in court on Friday, according to court records. Patch was unable to contact Stephenson's lawyer on Monday morning.
