Teenager Arrested After Union Square Beat Down Caught On Video

A 16-year-old was arrested for allegedly helping to beat up another teen in Union Square, police said.

UNION SQUARE, NY — A 16-year-old was arrested after a brawl in Union Square on Friday evening, police said.

The teenager was cuffed by police after the fight broke out about 5 p.m. near the intersection of Union Square West and 14th Street. He was arrested for assault and given a desk appearance ticket, authorities said.

Video of the fight posted online shows a group of teenagers punching and kicking another teenager as he kneels on the ground and holds his head between his arms to protect it from the blows.

A passerby then pulls the victim away from the group of teens who were beating him up, the video shows.
But the group then catches up with him again and begins punching him in the face.

The end of the video shows several of the teens who were involved in the fight chase the victim down 14th Street and punch and kick him.
