Washington Square Park Tree Lighting: What You Need To Know

The annual tree lighting in Washington Square Park will include carols and Santa Claus.

WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK, NY — The massive 45-foot-tall tree currently towering beneath the Washington Square Arch will be lit on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The annual tree light ceremony in the park will include locals, carolers and a visit from Santa Claus.

Wednesday's tree lighting festivities will have a caroling soundtrack thanks to the Rob Susman Brass Quartet, and caroling songbooks will be available for those who are a little rusty on their holiday tunes. The carolers are also scheduled to return on Christmas Eve for carols near the arch.
