West Village Halloween Festival 2021: What To Know

Live music, a drag queen story hour, and a dog costume contest are all part of the Treats in the Streets West Village celebration this year.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — The Meatpacking Business Improvement District is hosting Treats in the Streets on Oct. 30, a Halloween celebration in the West Village that will include fun activities and special deals from local businesses.

The spooky celebration will kick off at 11 a.m. in the district's Gansevoort Plaza and nearby Open Streets.

The day's main events will go as follows:

  • Noon - Live music on Gansevoort Plaza and W 13th Street
  • Noon - Drag Queen Story Hour on Gansevoort Plaza
  • 1 p.m. - Drag Queen Story Hour on W 13th Street
  • 2 p.m. - The Meatpacking District’s 3rd Annual Doggie Costume Contest on Little W 12th Street. Grand Prize is an overnight stay at the dog-friendly Gansevoort Hotel! Register your dog on-site for the contest starting at 1 p.m. on Oct. 30. The show will begin at 2 p.m.

The live music will last until the day is over at 5 p.m., and there will also be pumpkin decorating, pumpkin ring toss, pumpkin tic-tac-toe, corn hole, and portraits of dogs and their owners.

Along with the activities, more than a dozen local retailers and restaurants are participating in the Halloween celebration.

  • Alice + Olivia - Champagne, Halloween treats and mini pumpkin giveaways.
  • Amy’s Bread - Candy for children in costumes and will be featuring autumn treats including pumpkin donuts, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin spice latte, and pumpkin whoopie pies, all available for purchase.
  • Artists + Fleas - Annual costume competition with Artists + Fleas' merchants. All are encouraged to dress up in costume and then there will be an in-market vote as well as a social media vote to see who will win the best costume.
  • Belstaff - Halloween treats and free chain stitching on the day with purchase.
  • Best Burger - Free candy for the kids trick or treating, outdoor decorations, fall-themed cocktails for adults (for purchase), non-alcoholic apple cider slushies (for purchase), and house-made pumpkin ice cream floats (for purchase).
  • Chelsea Market Baskets - Providing assorted sweet and salty snacks and drinks.
  • Common Ground Bar - handing out candy to trick or treaters and showcase the fall cocktail menu for adults.
  • Damselfly Flowers - Treats available, as well as the store decorated with fall/Halloween florals and wreaths.
  • Diane Von Furstenberg - Trick or Treating- candy for kids and adults stopping by.
  • Friends of the High Line - Tabling with information about the High Line and programming as well as an activity table for young people run by the High Line Teens Program.
  • Gansevoort Hotel - Serving fall-themed cocktails at Coffee + Cocktails.
  • Neighborhood Goods - Hosting Dog + Owner portraits in-store and selling Mini Pumpkin Spiced Beignets with House Caramel.
  • Serafina Meatpacking - Trick or treat stand outside and serving complimentary Ravioli (pumpkin, Amaretto cookie and Parmigiano, which is a typical Italian fall tradition) and hot apple cider.
  • Sneakers N Stuff - Candy for kids, happy hour drinks for adults in store, haystack photo op, Raffle shoe pickups taking place day of.
  • Stephen F - Beverages for kids and adults.
  • The Meeting Point Gallery - This will be the last weekend to view FROM A PLACE, OF A PLACE, The Meeting Point Gallery will have treats available for kids while adults are able to view the gallery.
  • The Standard, High Line - Will give out treats for the kids (and adults) on The Plaza
  • Theory - Theory Trick or Treat will provide treats + cider to all Theory visitors, as well as have an in-store "trick or treat" activation where guests can try their luck for the opportunity to draw either a "trick" or a "treat" from Theory (mystery gift card, complimentary hemming, etc.).
  • Three Owls Market - Will provide some specialty beverages (apple cider) and fun baked goods.
  • TriangleLoft - The space will be converted into a haunted house. Pumpkin painting for the kids, Halloween beverages + candy.

West 13th Street will also host the Future Streets Design Expo during the festival. This event highlights manufacturers creating products for the future of New York City's streets and public outdoor spaces including outdoor dining modules, parklets, secure bike storage, and other items.

The event is free and open to the public. No reservations or tickets are required.
