West Village Pizzeria Named 10th Best In New York City

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Getting named among the best of anything in New York City is no easy feat, but there might be no more competitive category than the top pizza in the five boroughs. Despite the incredible competition, a West Village eatery just got named the tenth best pizzeria in the entire city.

TimeOut, a popular online guide to the best art, entertainment, and food around the world, recently published "The 29 Best Pizza Places In NYC."

Authors of the ranking named Joe's Pizza, at 7 Carmine Street, the tenth-best pizzeria in New York City.

Here's what they had to say about the West Village pizzeria:

"Sometimes, all we want is a no-fuss New York slice in all its cheesy glory, even when fancier options exist. And there’s a reason Joe’s finds its way into every New Yorker’s diet at one point or another: A plain slice is only $3. The blistering cheese atop a puffy, thin crust never fails to tempt us."

Joe Pozzuoli, a native of Naples, Italy, opened Joe's Pizza in 1975. At 75, Pozzuoli still runs the pizzeria, dishing out classic New York City-styled slices to paying customers.

"After 38 years, Joe's is still an independently owned business at only one location, personally supervised by founder Joe himself," reads an About section on Joe's website. "We still are what we've always been: a classic NY slice joint. No glossy corporate backing, no fancy pants pies, no pretentious nonsense and no gimmicky budget pizza either.
