West Village Scissor-Stabber Indicted On 8 Counts, Prosecutors Say

The stabbing spree happened July 27. Hasson Victoria was indicted on eight felony assault and weapons possession charges.

MANHATTAN, NY — A Queens man accused of stabbing three people with scissors in an unprovoked, 10-minute spree in the West Village has been indicted on eight felony assault and weapons possession charges, prosecutors announced Thursday.

The attacks happened just before 9:30 a.m. July 27. Hasson Victoria, 45, tried to stab a 28-year-old man with scissors near Hudson and Charlton Streets, prosecutors said. About five minutes later, he walked a few blocks away and lunged at a 24-year-old man, armed with the same scissors, multiple times, aiming at his chest. The man was struck twice in his right arm, leaving him bloodied.

Victoria then walked towards Bleecker Street and Eighth Avenue, where he stabbed a 45-year-old man in the neck, bloodying him as well.

Victoria, who was reportedly shirtless at the time, was arrested a few minutes later on West 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue. Officers found scissors in his waistband, prosecutors said.

“As alleged, Hasson Victoria lunged at three different men with a pair of scissors over the span of minutes — all during the morning rush hour — on public streets,” Alvin Bragg, Jr., the Manhattan district attorney, said in a news release. “I want New Yorkers to know that we treat these violent attacks with the seriousness they deserve.”
