HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Two gray seals will be released back into their natural habitat Wednesday in Hampton Bays.

According to the New York Marine Rescue Center, the release will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Tiana Beach.

The pair being released includes Puffin, who was brought in on February 15,"and was our first seal patient of the season. Puffin was reported 400 yards away from the beach in dunes near Montauk Highway with a full coat of lanugo," NYMRC representatives said. "Due to the proximity to the busy highway, NYMRC staff decided to bring her in to better assess her health."

Also released will be Barracuda, who came in on April 19 with a fishing jig embedded in both the front flipper and mouth. "Thankfully, aside from superficial wounds as a result of the hooks, Barracuda had a clean bill of health and is already ready to be released," NYMRC representatives said.
