3 Nabbed At Thanksgiving Eve DWI Checkpoint In Hampton Bays: PD

Police initiated the DWI crackdown on Wednesday night.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Three people were nabbed during a Thanksgiving Eve sobriety checkpoint in Hampton Bays, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, on Wednesday between 8:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., a DWI crackdown was held on Flanders Road in Hampton Bays, where motorists were screened for signs of impairment.

Officers checked more than 1,000 vehicles and arrested three drivers found driving under the influence, including, police said:

- Oswald Espinoza-Mogrovejo, 46, of Hampton Bays, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

- Roberto Granados-Sanchez, 38, of Flanders, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI.

- Daniel R. McNamara, 33, of Hampton Bays, was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, police said.

"The Southampton Town Police would like to thank all those drivers who chose to drive sober. We would additionally like to thank all the intoxicated and /or impaired passengers we encountered who chose to utilize a ride-share service or designate a driver," authorities said. "Together, we can all make a difference in helping to prevent tragedy this holiday season."
