  1. Local animal activists are celebrating after saving the life of a turkey, as well as a chick, destined for slaughter. Long Island Orchestrating for Nature (LION) convinced a live New York City slaughterhouse to spare the life of a turkey and a week-old chick. The birds are recovering at LION's headquarters in Riverhead. (Patch)
  2. Lisa Finn reports that a Big Lots store in Riverhead was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday. Two women tried to steal merchandise in a baby carriage and a third man may have been involved. (Patch)
