Cops: Duo Used Stolen Credit Card to Purchase Christmas Presents

Southampton Town police have arrested two self-employed home heath care workers for using a stolen credit card to purchase $3,000 worth of Christmas presents.

According to police, Ann Hennessy, 51, and Susan H. Hartmann, 44, both of East Quogue, were charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a felony and unlawful possession of a personal identification in the third degree on Jan. 24.

Hennessy was further charged with forgery in the third degree, a misdemeanor.

The charges came after police received a call from an East Quogue resident who reported on Jan. 19, that someone used his credit card to make various internet purchases. An investigation led police to 58 Old Country Road where the purchases were being delivered.

Inside the home, where the women were living, police found bedspreads, boots, curtains, clothing, electronics and jewelry that were purchased using the stolen credit card.

Also inside the home was an elderly woman, who police said Hartmann and Hennessy were responsible for caring for. The woman appeared disoriented and police called the East Quogue Fire Department to have her taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center. A referral to Adult Protective Services was also made on her behalf.

The two women were held overnight and brought to Southampton Justice Court where they were each remanded to Suffolk County Jail in lieu of $2500.00 in bail.
