Navigating the rising high price of Lobster this season

With the popular Lobster Roll reaching caviar prices, a few local chefs are satisfying the demand with creative alternatives.

With the '22 season in full swing, the most talked about subject of the summer is the high price attached to the popular Lobster roll at every restaurant and pop up spot alike. What was a rite of passage, and accepted, that Lobster was always a little more costly than most menu items, but still accessible by everyone.

Now, with the average price tag of $30, and seen otherwise at $50,$60,and even $70, the general public is screaming at this and a few good chefs are listening.

Zen restaurant in Sag Harbor is a bustling and busy staple of the Hamptons for years now that has been synonymous with quality and cutting edge amongst its diners. With sushi being a crowd favorite, their Lobster offerings are taking center stage with rave reviews for both taste and value.

However, the best kept secret of the Hamptons this season is East End Clambakes in Southampton. A small,no frills take out spot as a front for their Lobsterbake catering operation, there is a wizard of a chef behind the curtain pulling all the right strings in the land of Oz and Lobster 🦞.

Local celebrity, and Michelin rated chef, Johndavid Hensley is at the forefront of the Lobster scene this season. With his Loster roll considered a must have, even in the circles of Lunch and Bostwicks respectively,it is his skill and insight that has folks in a frenzy for his Lobster and special creations of the sort.

The handmade petite Lobster ravioli is quite possibly the heir apparent to the must have dish of the summer. With a Lobster bisque sauce, it is masterful.

The gluten free Lobster linguini is bright,light, and screams summer with fresh basil,olive oil and cut Lobster.

Then there is something we could never imagine. A Lobster gyro? It was incredible. "It all works as a harmonious whole" he explained when we spoke to him.

So folks, while the '22 season may have its challenges, these people have the solutions.
