PHOTO: Robotics Team Places 3rd in Regional Competition
The Westhampton Beach Robotics team competed April 5-6.

Westhampton Beach High School's Robotics Team placed 3rd in the 14th annual Long Island Regional FIRST Robotics Competition held at Hofstra University on April 5-6.
The team was among 50 high schools to compete from Long Island, New York City and Brazil.
“All teams demonstrated tremendous teamwork, gracious professionalism and strategic thinking, but these winners went above and beyond to overcome the challenges of the competition,” said Ginny Greco, FRC Director of SBPLI, sponsor of the Long Island Regional FIRST Competition.

To participate in the competition, the students worked with professional mentors to design, program and build a robot over a six-week timeframe using a "kit of parts" and a standard set of rules.
Westhampton Beach students used scraps from Gershow Recycling to build their 130-pound robot.
