On Saturday, horse lovers took the beach to help raise money for the Westhampton Kiwanis Club at an event called, the first annual Pony Swim.
The event, held in West Hampton Dunes at Pike's Beach featured 20 riders on the beach, pony rides, a bake sale and a pot-luck lunch.
The Kiwanis, which wished to thank Mayor of Westhampton Dunes Gary Vegliante for his support for the event, raised $200 for the first annual event.
"We had a great day down at Pike's Beach," said Ursula Berlinger, the club's secretary. "The weather was perfect, skies were clear and the horses and their riders had a great time taking a dunk in the Bay. Some of the more intrepid horses were willing to canter along the beach down to Cupsogue Beach and back."
