Smart Phone Portrait Contest

The Quogue Library Art Committee is excited to announce the 2022 Smart Phone Portrait Contest, curated by Professional Photographer, Lauren Lieberman of LILA Photo.

Photographer, Lauren Lieberman is a founding partner of the 10,000 Headshots Initiative. Featured on the Today Show, Headshot Booker photographers come out annually and in force across all 50 states to donate their time and talent, providing free headshots to unemployed people of all age groups and cultures so they may update their online resumes and social media profiles such as LinkedIn.

Residents across the east end of Long Island are encouraged to share what they’ve captured from behind their smartphone lenses. Portrait submissions are open from September 1 - 30, 2022. One hundred portraits will be chosen, printed and exhibited in the Quogue Library Art Gallery from November 19, 2022 – January 4, 2023. Three winning portraits will be publicly recognized at the gallery reception on November 25, 2022. The reception is open to the public.

“The smartphone is a tool in our back pocket that gives us an opportunity to bring out the inner artist in ourselves,” Lauren Lieberman, LILA Photo. “This exhibition is a unique opportunity to share moments from the world around you from your perspective. That special look in a stranger's eyes, your grandchild’s face laughing with pure joy; thousands of photos live on our phones and are rarely shared with others. This exhibition brings to life the moments that we capture of the people in our lives, whether fleeting or forever, to showcase the artist in each and every one of us.”

Entrants may submit one or two images in the contest. Portraits must be of humans, jpeg format preferred. The portrait contest is open to the public, entrants are not required to be Quogue Library patrons.
