Southampton Animal Shelter Awarded Grant

PETCO gave the shelter $750.

The Southampton Animal Shelter, located in Hampton Bays, was recently awarded another grant from The Petco Foundation.

According to the shelter, Petco presented a $750.00 check, which will be used to replace torn windscreens along the fencing in the shelter's playgroup and agility yards.

The shelter said the screens help protect the animals from distraction and the elements during the doggie playgroups that are held at the shelter daily.

The playgroups, the shelter said, are part of the Playing For Life Program, which SASF's Director of Training and Behavior, Aimee Sadler founded. She travels the country, teaching the program to other shelters.

Sadler says playgroups release the stress in dogs who live in shelter environments and teaches them socialization.
