🌱 Thanksgiving Arrests, DWI Checks + Helping Sea Turtles

Local police were checking for DWIs this Thanksgiving Eve on the East End. A Hamptons man was arrested when he was combative with a police officer, with a gun in his car, on Thanksgiving morning. And a local brewery has created a beer to help East End sea turtles.

1. Lisa Finn reports that a Riverhead man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated as the result of a Thanksgiving Eve sobriety checkpoint on Flanders Road. Robert Hamilton, Jr., 57, was arrested and charged with DWI. (Patch)
2. Patch explains that an intoxicated Sagaponack man was arrested after a handgun was found in his vehicle and he became combative and assaulted a police officer early Thanksgiving morning. Errol Gene Scott, 23, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; second-degree assault, a felony; and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor. (Patch)
3. Dan's Papers has a roundup of events in the Hamptons. Some teenager and kid-friendly ones include Science Fun with Timothy Turkey at Rogers Memorial Library and a Thanksgiving Pie Photo Contest on Friday with East Hampton Library. (Dan's Papers)

Dan's Papers explains that a local brewery in Riverhead, übergeek Brewing Co., has partnered with the New York Marine Rescue Center (NYMRC) to create a winter ale to supports the non-profit organization's mission, helping sea turtles on the East End. NYMRC, at the Long Island Aquarium, will get $1 for every pour of the beer, called "i didn't ask to be here." (Dan's Papers)
