Time-Lapse Photos of the Quogue Inn and Weathervane

Construction continues at the two historical sites.

Construction is continuing on two projects to rebuild historic sites in Quogue. Since the projects commenced, much work has been done as seen in the above photos taken over the last several months by photographer Jeff Cully.

The 189-year-old Inn at Quogue has been under construction since September when a number of Quogue residents jointly purchased the property for $2.5 million from Rocco Lettieri with a goal to restore it.

According to a report on 27east, the group of investors plan to reopen the inn sometime this summer, featuring 10 second-floor rooms and five rooms in cottages surrounding the main structure.

The project has come under scrutiny with historian Sally Spanburgh saying that maybe only a stick or two of the house's 1824 original fibers are left.

The second project, across the way, is the Weathervane also known as the Jessup Homestead. That project started in December 2011 when a wrecking ball demolished motel units and cottages on the 2.5-acre property, making way for four, new 3,600-square-foot dwellings with accessory structures with the historic Jessup Homestead converted for single-family use.
