2. After rear-ending a vehicle in Westhampton Friday night, an off-duty Southampton Town Police officer was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Girardin was placed under arrest, and charged with misdemeanor DWI. “Members of the law enforcement community should be held to a higher standard, so it is disappointing when a member allegedly violates the laws they are sworn to protect,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney.(Westhampton-Hampton Bays Patch)
3. The investigation was turned over to the Southampton Town Fire Marshall to investigate a blaze that broke out in the early morning hours at a boat yard in Hampton Bays on Friday, officials said. A camper and two boats were fully engulfed in flames at the boat yard, located off Foster Avenue. Three firefighting crews worked diligently to put out the multiple fires with limited mobility due to the close proximity of the boats. (Westhampton-Hampton Bays Patch)
