2 WIHS Seniors Win Suffolk Zone Award
Jack Kelly and Kailey Lyons recognized for their academic and athletic achievements.

The Suffolk Zone of the NYS Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation recently recognized and as West Islip’s outstanding physical education students. They'll be honored along with other winners at a gala event on December 7 at the Hyatt Regency Wind Watch Hotel.
The Suffolk Zone Award is given out annually to students who best exemplify exceptional physical performance, scholarship, character, and citizenship.
Lyons excels both academically and athletically. She is ranked 63rd in her class of 475 students and has a weighted average of 96. She's been an active member of the National Honor Society and the National English Honor Society. She was also selected captain of her gymnastics team and has received All League and All County Honors.

In addition, Lyons selflessly dedicated herself to over 100 hours of community service. She's currently deciding to attend the University of Delaware, Fairfield University or Stony Brook University.
Kelly, who's committed to play lacrosse next year at Brown University, has maintained a 96 average in honors and Advanced Placement courses and is ranked 57th in his class.

He's been on the Principal’s List every quarter and is an active member of the National Honor Society, DECA, Future Business Leaders of America and treasurer of the Student Senate.
Kelly is also captain of the football and lacrosse teams due to his commitment to excellence and work ethic.
