About: The annual 5K run in West Islip attracts thousands of runners from across the area. The race helps raise funds for the Elizabeth McNamee Memorial Fund, which was established in 1998 following Elizabeth’s passing from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM).

HCM is the most common cause of disease-related sudden death among America’s youth. It is a primary and usually familial cardiac disorder in which the left side of the heart wall becomes thickened and disrupts the flow of blood to the aorta.
