#97: 5K Fun Run

What: Annual 5K Fun Run

Where: West Islip High School

When: Sunday, March 6, 11 a.m.

About: Sponsored by COMPASS of West Islip, the annual 5K Fun Run starts and finishes at West Islip High School. The 5K will take runners, joggers and walkers on to Higbie Lane, Union Blvd. and the streets around the high school with the finish line in the school’s parking lot. A friendly competition between the school district’s six elementary schools includes cash prizes to be awarded to the top three schools that will go to purchasing items on each building’s wish list. In addition to the 5K Run, the day’s events also includes a Kids Dash for those age 12 and under, which will be held at the high school track beginning at 10:15 a.m.

For those who register prior to February 14, the fee is $5 per person or $15 for families of four or more. Registration fees from February 15 to race day are $8 per person or $20 for families of four more. Kids 12 and under are free.
