Update: Man Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident on Robert Moses Causeway
West Babylon man lost control and struck center median, police said.
UPDATE: Anthony Oliveri, 53, of West Babylon, has been identified as the motorcyclist involved in Friday afternoon's crash.
According to New York State police, Oliveri was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson in the left lane of the northbound Robert Moses Causeway when he lost control of the bike, causing him to strike the center median.
The motorcycle then mounted the center median and struck the guardrail, ejecting Oliveri from the bike, police said.

Oliveri sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported by helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center, police said.
Police also confirmed that the northbound Robert Moses State Causeway was closed for approximately one hour following the accident. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

INITIAL STORY: An accident on the Robert Moses Causeway in West Islip Friday afternoon caused traffic to jam up along Montauk Highway, while the northbound entrances to the parkway were temporarily shut down.
According to initial reports received by West Islip Patch, the accident occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m. Reports also indicated the accident involved a motorcycle, with at least one person injured. It is not known what those injuries are.
The entrance ramps to the Robert Moses Causeway were reopened as of 5:30 p.m.
