Cantwell Heading to College World Series

West Islip alum plays for Stony Brook Seawolves baseball team.

West Islip native and graduate Pat Cantwell is playing in the College World Series as a member of the Stony Brook Seawolves baseball squad.

The senior catcher batted .312 in this past season. He was selected to All-America East first team this year.

He was also by the Baltimore Orioles in 2011.

The Seawolves advanced to its first-ever College World Series after beating LSU 7-2. Stony Brook, which has won 28 of its past 31 games, is only the second No. 4 seed to reach the College World Series since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1999. The Seawolves are also the first America East team to reach the College World Series.

The College World Series takes place June 14 to June 26 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.
