The West Islip High School girls gymnastics team is celebrating a League II championship after beating Hauppauge in their season finale on Tuesday.  Their total score of 151.625 barely edged Hauppauge's score of 150.75, but was good enough to seal a seventh win and undefeated record in League II (7-2 overall). Led by head coach Karyn Storan, the team featured four seniors, three juniors, four sophomores, and two middle Udall students.  All-County performer Paula Pecorella led the team in uneven bars and floor exercise while seventh-grader Hanna Battaglini won the team's Most Improved award. Here are other the team's leading scorers in all events (a star indicates team captains): Vault: Victoria Scuteri* and Sydney Matone Uneven Bars: Paula Pecorella and Victoria Scuteri Balance Beam: Kailey Lyons* and Blair Engeldrum* Floor Exercise: Paula Pecorella and Jessica Lutrario *Alyssa Hourican was also a team captain.  Please see attached PDF for full team roster.
