Galasso to Miss 2 Months After Surgery

UNC star attackman suffered a fracture in left foot.

The University of North Carolina announced Tuesday that sophomore All-America and former WIHS star lacrosse player Nicky Galasso underwent surgery last Friday to repair a fracture in his left foot.

Galasso fractured his foot doing conditioning drills on Monday, Nov. 14 and had surgery four days later. Head coach Joe Breschi and lacrosse athletic trainer Nina Walker said he'll likely be sidelined for about two months, but that he should be ready to go by February.

“We hate this for Nicky,” Breschi said in a statement. “But our medical staff was very proactive on this and we expect he will be able to make a full recovery and be back practicing with us by around February 1. After the tremendous impact he had on our 2011 team as a freshman, we are looking forward to him getting back on the field being a key element of our 2012 lacrosse team. At this time his health and his healing process is our No. 1 concern.”
