Man Dies After Being Pulled From Long Island Pool: PD

The man was found unresponsive in a Long Island pool on Sunday, police say. He was pronounced dead, police stated in an update Monday.

WEST ISLIP, NY — The man who was pulled unresponsive from a West Islip pool on Sunday has died, Suffolk police said Monday.

Akinola Johnson, 45, was identified by police as the man who drowned, Patch reported.

Police arrived a West Islip home at 105 Graywood Court around 6 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting that Johnson, a resident of the home, was found unresponsive in the pool, police said.

Family members pulled him out of the water and performed CPR on him until first responders arrived, police said.

According to officials, Johnson was transported in critical condition to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he died, police said.
