Student Charged With Gun, Ammunition Possession At West Islip High: PD
A 17-year-old West Islip High student was arrested and charged with possession of a revolver and ammunition, police say.
WEST ISLIP, NY – A West Islip High School student was arrested Monday morning after he brought a gun and ammunition to school, Suffolk County police said.
According to police, Third Precinct officers arrested a 17-year-old student after school officials reported that a staff member seized a gun from a male student in the high school building. Police said he was in possession of a revolver and ammunition.
The student, who was not identified due to his age, was charged by Third Squad detectives with second-degree criminal possession, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds, all felonies, police said.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and was slated to be arraigned at the Youth Part of First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
