Students Admire Dr. Kirdahy

Fourth grade students admire a portrait of Dr. Paul E. Kirdahy, which was a recent gift from the Kirdahy family.
West Islip School District art teacher, Tom McGunnigle, painted this portrait, which now hangs in the lobby of the Paul E. Kirdahy Elementary School at Captree. Â In May 2009, the school was rededicated and renamed in his honor. Â

Dr. Kirdahy was a respected educator and administrator whose legacy lives on in West Islip with the renaming of this school, as well as with the endowment of annual scholarships to graduating West Islip High School seniors pursuing careers in education.
