On Tuesday’s “Boomer & Carton Show” on WFAN, co-host Craig Carton and several staffers connected with the program wore a variety of West Islip apparel as a way to mock co-host Boomer Esiason, an East Islip High School graduate and former NFL quarterback.

Students, faculty and staff gathered in the interior courtyard at Manetuck Elementary School on Monday to celebrate the of Mary Anderson, the school’s principal.

It was a big day Wednesday for West Islip senior attackman Brendan Smith.

In the Lions 10-5 win over Walt Whitman, Smith set a team record scoring nine goals. The previous record was eight goals shared by Keith Wempe (vs. Connetquot in 1994) and Ryan Euell (vs. Northport in 2005). On the season, Smith has 33 goals.

During its seventh annual gala Friday, Partners Advancing West Islip Schools  honored two dedicated and influential West Islip community members.
