Unlike Christmas Day, where most shops and retailers are closed, Thanksgiving is nearly a typical workday for many food stores and convenience retailers. That bodes well given the one forgotten ingredient for the special dressing, band aids for those kitchen mishaps and a place to run to when a relative forgets to bring the pie or wine. Here's a quick list of what's opened on Thursday: Most retail supermarkets, including Best Yet, are open most of the day. Best Yet is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and local Stop and Shops on LI have similar hours. The CVS in West Islip runs 24 hours a day, and it's no different on Thanksgiving. Most 7-Eleven stores are open usual hours, as are local liquor stores which typically are open until the dinner hour arrives. Coffeehouses such as Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts are also open on the holiday, and are open early (6:30 a.m.) for those putting the bird in the oven before the sun actually rises.
