Fire Erupts at Midtown Manhattan Construction Site

New York City fire officials believe a generator sparked the fire.

MANHATTAN, NY — A large fire broke out at a construction site Tuesday afternoon around 2:20 p.m. in Midtown Manhattan, sending billows of smoke into the freezing winter air.

A spokesman with the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) said the blaze appeared to be ”some kind of generator fire at a construction site” at 333 West 38th St.

The fire was brought under control around 2:45 p.m., according to the FDNY.
