Williamsburg Fire on Metropolitan Ave Injures 2
Witness video showed firefighters carrying one victim away from the scene on a stretcher.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A two-alarm fire tore through the first floor of a six-story apartment building at 232 Metropolitan Ave., between Bedford and Driggs avenues, late Monday night.
Two people were injured in the 10:45 p.m. fire, according to a spokesman for the Fire Department of New York (FDNY). The spokesman did not have immediate information on the extent of their injuries.
After burning for more than an hour, the fire was declared under control around midnight Monday.

A witness video from the scene, embedded below, showed firefighters rushing one of the victims away from the scene on a stretcher.
Among the first-floor tenants at 232 Metropolitan is Sweatshop, a "Melbourne-style espresso bar and creative space" that opened in 2014. Foodtown and Giant Laundromat are located across the street.
