Update: Identity Released of Cyclist Dead After Found Lying in Greenpoint Road

Police say Wojciech Baran, 54, appeared to collapse while riding and was not hit by a vehicle.

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — A 54-year-old male cyclist who died Friday morning after he was found collapsed on a Greenpoint road has been identified by police.

Wojciech Baran was found unconscious and unresponsive in the roadway on Greenpoint and Kingsland avenues, said an NYPD spokesman.

Baran was taken to Woodhull Hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

Baran appeared to be riding his bike northbound on Kingsland Avenue when he collapsed in the roadway at the intersection of Greenpoint Avenue, said police, and that it did not appear that he was hit by a car.

The medical examiner has not yet determined a cause of death.
