WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A fire broke out inside the Woops! BakeShop location at 522 Driggs Ave. early Wednesday morning, minorly injuring five people and putting the neighborhood’s ”macaron specialist” entirely out of commission.
Three firefighters and two civilians were wounded in the 7:06 a.m. blaze, which took 106 firefighters more than an hour to bring under control, and FDNY spokesman told Patch.
The pristine yet cozy Woops! BakeShop on Driggs is one of five Woops! Bakeshops across New York City.
The company wrote on Facebook Wednesay: “Woops! a fire broke out in our Williamsburg building’s location. Thank goodness, everyone is safe and sound, but sadly, we will be closed until further notice.”
Multiple residents living above the BakeShop were displaced by the fire, according to the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation by the FDNY.
Another big fire down in Bed-Stuy the previous morning killed a 2-year-old girl who was allegedly left home alone by her mother overnight. More on that here.
