Greenpoint Car Crash Kills 71-Year-Old Queens Man: Police
The man died after being transported to Woodhull Hospital. No arrests were made.
GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — 71-year-old Queens resident Joseph Ranieri died after a Jeep struck him in Greenpoint this morning, police said.
The police responded to a call that came in around 6 a.m. to find Ranieri lying on the road, unconscious and unresponsive. He was transported to Woodhull Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, according to an NYPD spokesman.
Ranieri was crossing Meeker Avenue mid-block when he was hit by a 30-year-old man driving a 2012 Jeep. The driver stayed on the scene until police arrived and was not arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
