Greenpoint Music Venue 'Aviv' Closing This Fall

The DIY-music-venue purge in North Brooklyn continues: Aviv on Morgan Avenue just announced it's closing in October.

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — Local music venue Aviv, open for barely two years in Greenpoint yet already a beloved DIY staple in the neighborhood, will close at the end October when its current lease is up, the owners announced via Facebook on Tuesday evening.

The all-ages venue is run by the same duo behind Bushwick's shuttered Emet. They were forced to shut down Emet when they ran into legal issues with the city.

Aviv opened in late November 2014 at 496 Morgan Ave., amid a barren stretch of transitioning industrial spaces in the shadow of the Brooklyn Queen Expressway.
