UPDATE: Brooklyn Street Renamed 'Pizza Rat Blvd'

For one glorious Thursday.

UPDATE, Monday: The street sign was a temporary prop on a film set for Netflix series “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” according to ABC News. “They had notified us about it in advance,” an employee at 3 Roots, the cafe next door, told ABC. “It was only up for a few hours. There’s always a lot of filming around in the area.” Mystery solved.

Let’s all take a moment today to really process and appreciate the amount of time and care that some transit nerd and Pizza Rat fan in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, took to create and mount this “Pizza Rat Blvd” street sign on India Street at Franklin Street. It’s the kind of dedication only before exhibited by, perhaps, Pizza Rat himself.

No, but really — it’s flawless.

The sign was first spotted Thursday morning. According to the New York Daily News, though, it had disappeared by Thursday evening. Patch has reached out to the city’s Department of Transportation for more on its rise and fall.

In memoriam, below, the NYC hero who inspired the tribute.
