Reminder: Cops Patrolling Sunset Park, Windsor Terrace and South Slope Host Monthly Meeting Tonight
The NYPD hasn't offered much commentary on the 72nd Precinct's uptick in crime this year.

SUNSET PARK, SOUTH SLOPE and WINDSOR TERRACE, BROOKLYN, NY — The NYPD's 72nd Precint will host its monthly community council meeting on Tuesday night.
The meeting will take place at the Mariam-Hein Center, located at 4520 4th Ave. It will start at 7:30 p.m.
The 72nd Precinct patrols South Slope, Windsor Terrace and Sunset Park. Through Sep. 4, major crimes were collectively up about 5 percent in the 72nd compared to the same period last year, according to NYPD statistics.

However, that represents a decrease in crime from months past. Earlier this year, major crimes were collectively up about 20 percent precinct-wide.
While the NYPD has not allowed 72nd Precinct Commander Emmanuel Gonzalez to discuss local crime trends with the media, the precinct's Neighborhood Coordination Officers, or NCOs, have shared related insights during a series of community meetings they've hosted.

In July, the NCO's for Windsor Terrace reported that crime was low in the neighborhood. The NCOs for central Sunset Park recently told community members that they'd recorded a drop in crime in that area during recent months, while the NCO's for southeastern Sunset Park said robberies and assaults had risen in their section of the precinct.
