Video: Hit-And-Run Driver Strikes 6-Year-Old Boy in Borough Park
A 6-year-old boy was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Borough Park on Wednesday, police said, leaving him with a dislocated hip.

BOROUGH PARK, BROOKLYN — A six-year-old boy was the victim of a hit-and-run in Borough Park on Wednesday, police said.
Shortly after 4 p.m., the boy was crossing the intersection of Fort Hamilton Parkway and 41st Street when he was hit by a black Toyota Sienna minivan that had run a red light, according to the NYPD. The driver then fled the scene.
The boy was taken to Maimonides Medical Center with a dislocated hip, but is expected to survive, police said.

No arrests had been made as of Friday, and an investigation into the crash was ongoing.
Shocking surveillance video obtained by DNAinfo showed the crash. In the recording, the boy can be seen turning around in a crosswalk to pick up something he dropped. At that point, the minivan strikes him, and then continues driving.

Patch recently published the account of another unresolved area hit-and-run provided by the victim's father.
That crash, which took place in Windsor Terrace on Aug. 8, involved a 26-year-old woman riding her bike on Prospect Avenue between the Seely Street bridge and Vanderbilt Street, the dad said.
The woman was left with a concussion, as well as lacerations and fractures to her face, he said.

According to the Department of Transportation, 78 pedestrians had been killed on New York City's streets as of Aug. 25. A total of 77 had been killed as of that date in both 2015 and 2014. In 2013, 101 pedestrians had been killed as of Aug. 25.
